How to find Williamson Park

Williamson Park is situated in a commanding position overlooking Lancaster City Centre. It is approximately 5 minutes from junction 34 of the M6 motoway. After leaving the M6 follow signs for Lancaster city centre and brown signs (showing a butterfly) to Williamson Park. There is a car park on Wyresdale Road and disabled spaces are availble via the Quernemore Road entrance.

The park is open throughout the year except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. 10am - 5pm April to September, 10am - 4pm October - March.

About the Park

Williamson Park is situated on the site of a former quarry and open moorland to the east of Lancaster. During the 1990s the acquisition of the area known as Fenham Carr has brought the area of the park up to 54 acres.

It is possible to walk to the Park from Lancaster Rail Station (approx 30mins) or Lancaster Bus Station (approx 25 mins), there are taxi ranks at both locations. The walk is uphill but gives you the opportunity to see some of Lancaster's fine buildings. From Dalton Square at the front of the Town Hall, you will pass Lancaster Cathedral and, on the hill, Lancaster Royal Grammar School. Just before the Park entrance, on the opposite side of the road is a large grassy area with a memorial plaque to the Catholic martyrs who were hanged on Lancaster Moor.
